Reflection

This year in out information technology class, we were sorted into groups. Each group had to search about the topic that was given to them. My group involved two people with me in this project. We worked together and did a great job. Our topic was digital literacy. We worked continuously until we came up with this information that you can see in the web that we did. The only problem in our group was that we did not use our time wisely. Other than that, we were a good team, working fast and coming up with great information.

In this digiteen action project, our topic was digital literacy as I said before. Digital literacy is basically the ability of reading and writing. Anyone that can do both can do digital literacy. As for modern digital literacy, one example of it are computers. We got all of this information by researching about digital literacy, we researched about many things about it and came up with many answers to many questions like what is digital literacy or why do we use digital literacy. Our target audience for digital literacy were the primary students because they are young, but old enough to understand what is wrong and what is right. That's why we explained plagiarism, which is a huge problem in high school these days with many students and they should know about it so they don't do it later in the future. It was a relief that we were successful in what we wanted to accomplish. The young students looked like they were not thinking of doing any plagiarism after what they heard from us. I think other schools should do this too, so they can make better futures for the young students. Unfortunately, like i said before, our team did not use the time given to us wisely. If we did, we could've made a better job, but still, I think we did a great job and better than that would be no less than perfect.

I think that digital citizenship is a great thing to discuss in schools. Many people use our modern digital objects in a very bad way. This is why i think that young students should always learn the right way of using our modern technology. For example, take computers. Many cyberbullying is happening around the world on the internet. Another major problem from the internet is plagirizing, which is a huge crime. I think that students should be taught not to do any of these things. This also infers to my learnings in this project. i think the most important thing i learned from this project is that no one is better than the other. People who plagirize take another person's work, but i don't think this other person is better than the person that plagirized. If the person that plagirized just tried his best, he would've come up with great ideas too. As for cyberbullyin, the bullies are not better than the people that they're bullying. It is a wrong thing and if the bullied get bullied, they would not like it too.

Topic Reflection

In this project, our team is doing digital literacy. Digital literacy is anything like surveys, exams, etc. Modern digital literacy are computers. Surveys and exams are now done on computers. The only problem with this improvement is that some people use the computers in a wrong way. To solve this problem, administrators can block unappropriated sites or people can just stop going to these sites.

Digiteen Project

We have started a project on Digiteen.com. This project is all about getting to know other people online and to research with them. Our team is researching about digital literacy.

"The goal of Digital Literacy is to teach and assess basic computer concepts and skills so that people can use computer technology in everyday life to develop new social and economic opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities". This is the definition of digital literacy. My side of the project is to research about the digital literacy of people that are in middle/high schools. People in these ages get digital literacy by doing online exams or by filling in surveys. These things are all considered as digital literacy.

Growing Up Online

During this I.T. lesson, we watched videos about teenagers growing online. At first all of them seemed to like it, or in other words, love it! They seemed to be famous online and had many friends. They seemed to had fun and seemed to have the best moments of their lifes. then, after days, weeks, months or years, they really did regret the fact that they put their pictures online. They used to put really personal pictures online and they thought that people liked them until the bullied them and started insulting them and make them feel worse then ever.

I personally think that living online is a really bad idea. I even think that putting personal pictures online is the biggest mistake ever. Anyone can take it and they can stalk you or even worse, and now after looking at what happened to people that did it, I really am sure that it is a very bad idea.
